You are here: About Us - School Parliament
We have an active School Parliament who are re-elected each year, to give as many pupils as possible an opportunity to experience representing their peers in our school community. Pupil voice is very important to us at our Academy and we make sure that our School Parliament champion – and bring to life – any ideas that our pupils have, which will improve their daily experience. A recent example included helping raise funds for our new playground equipment. The School Parliament were involved throughout – from gathering opinion, design and pricing, to checking the quality of the finished product!
Our School Parliament is split into committees who work together:
School Parliament Committee Responsible for regularly checking pupil voice to see if pupils feel safe and happy, as well as fundraising for different charities during the year. | Our Eco Council Are working towards an ‘eco school’ award this year. They have evaluated our current status in order to consider what they can do to make our school more environmentally friendly. |
Our Wellbeing Council Raise awareness of how to stay happy and health and how to have positive mental health. They have already run dinnertime activities to educate pupils further both for mental health awareness week and anti-bullying week. | Our Sports Council Are Play Leaders on the playground, leading games and encouraging others to join in – making our playground as active as possible. |
Pupils wanting to lead our School Parliament – prepare and deliver a speech in order to be elected – make sure that everyone’s views are taken into account throughout the year and that work is distributed fairly between our members with the support of Mrs Nicholls, our School Parliament leader.
