School Parliament

You are here: About Us - School Parliament

We have an active and well-established School Council who are re-elected each year, to give as many pupils as possible an opportunity to experience representing their peers. Pupil voice is very important to us at school and we make sure that our School Council champion – and bring to life – any ideas that our pupils have, which will improve their daily experience. A recent example involved improving our pupil toilets as when surveyed, our children felt that they were ready for refurbishment. The School Council were involved throughout – from gathering opinion, design and pricing, to checking the quality of the finished product!

Our School Council is split into committees who work together:

ECO Council
The ECO Council work towards making our school as ‘green’ as possible carrying out activities from researching how we can use less plastic, to how we can keep our environment as tidy as possible.
Sports Council
The Sports Council contribute towards keeping everyone active – including being Play Leaders on the playground. They also check with pupils if there are any sports that they would like to try that they currently don’t get chance to experience.
Community Council
Our Community Council organise charity work and events that benefit our community – such as fundraising to support our Local Food Bank.
Pupil Voice Council
Our Pupil Voice Council act upon our pupil survey and make sure their voices are heard. They regularly deliver assemblies and check what is most important to our pupil community.

Our Head Boy and Head Girl – prepare and deliver a speech in order to be elected – make sure that everyone’s views are taken into account throughout the year and that work is distributed fairly between our members with the support of Mrs Nicholls, our School Council leader.
